No, you're thinking of *cold* sores which are a from of the Herpes simplex virus & appear outside the mouth. Canker sores are ulcerations of the mucosal membrane occurring inside the mouth.

In the past I pourd salt dirctly on them. That hurts like @$#^. It would heal them but not real fast.
Then I was trying something with peroxide and rinsed my mouth with it and they would be gone by the end of the day. Since I did that I do not get them as often as I did before I rinsed with it.

I have almost 8 canker sores under my tongue ! Every last one is under my tongue Dx. My mom is a dental assistant so I went over today and the doctor there prescribed me some stuff. Canker sores suck Dx.
