@lennnonsaves I'm so with you. Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink sort of slid by without my really noticing them, but Pele totally sucked me in, and terrified me at the same time. Choirgirl was the one I found the most personally relatable. They prompted me to listen to the first two, which I also came to love.

pele may be my very favorite. anyone who critizes that album should have their ass kicked. (choirgirl, too)

It was a huge hit among fans, but the music industry itself didn't like it at all and neither did critics at the time. They've warmed up to it after seeing fan reactions, though.

You MUST be joking! "Pele" was a huge hit - it was a great record and sold very well. It took no time to grow on the many of us who bought it! Most of us who have been fans since LE (and before, like myself), are a bit puzzled about the new stuff. Everyone is going to have their favorites and is certainly entitled to them. But please don't say things that just aren't true! (and IMHO, "Choirgirl" was lovely!! - we were in line at MIDNIGHT the night before to buy it. Hardly a CD no one wanted!)

Her new stuff is the best she's ever had. When Boys for Pele and Choirgirl came out, people said she was dead. Now she's put out one of her most epic and emotional CDs ever, and it'll take a few years to grow on everyone, the same way those albums I just mentioned had to grow on everyone. Not to mention she's more high-energy than she's been since Choirgirl.
