  • Lamar why don't you just study wing chun under a

yip ching, gary lam or another wing chun master?

Your jkd looks like wing chun anyway

  • Sifu Davis has touched hands with the likes of Patrick Strong and Jesse Glover. Strong and Glover would wipe the floor with Ching and/or Lam. In terms of this Youtube clip, Davis is teaching a specific portion of Bruce Lee's art. Unlike many JKD instructors, Davis teaches Lee's fighting method in its totality.

  • @pjtheory what crap! Lamar can't even wrap his head around the actual meaning & philosophy of JKD. Yes he teaches techniques that Bruce taught, but his closed mindness is astounding. When was the last time you saw this old fool doing multiple attacker drills (With and without weapons) in dim lighting (say a back alley somewhere)? NEVER! He has no idea what is "Real".

  • People forget that Bruce has been dead for years, whilst other students who were taught by the same people wsl/ip man are still living and teaching! I'm a fan of Bruce like everyone but since moving to Asia found that it has also evolved and the people are much more knowledgable than in the west.

  • The problem is that new comers who start in Jkd misinterpret wing chun concepts and miss out on the fundamental basics of wing chun.

  • @if6was9sowhat Trapping works better in street fight! Its easy to say that something does not work if you cant do it! Trapping takes YEARS of training! Why would Bruce Lee teach trapping if he knew it doesnt work?

  • Davis is good at JKD trapping but his pitty pat stuff he needs to go to Emin Boztepe seminar - then he will realise how weak his trapping & chi sao skills really are and more to the point how he can improve them. Tell him to look at EBMAS site go to a Boztepe seminar try chi sao with him, it will be a humbling learning experience for sure! What Davis is teaching trapping wise is quite unrealistic & little relevance to a real fight.

  • Trapping works, it just takes a long time to learn. MMA guys dont have 4or 5 years to perfect trapping when they have to be proficient in other things like submission holds etc. As for this not looking like Bruce Lee's art....Maybe you should study Bruce Lee's fighting method before you comment. and By the way I've been late to class plenty of times and never had to pay a fee...What bullcrap.

  • Jkd is very good but I feel it misses the basics for beginners like sensitivity etc!

    Wsl for me!!

  • Lamar davis is the real deal, trapping is a very hard technique to use in real situations from street even to the ring, and he can do it. Not saying hes a world class fighter, no, but a really good martial artist, he charges so much becausse what he teaches is valuable. Why do you think bruce charged so much? Quit hating, you guys talk all this shit on the internet calling people out like COME TO MY HOOD. If you had half a sense you'd go there and challenge him like people did in the oldday

  • @if6was9sowhat actually it is really practical...just saying

  • Message to Lamar Davis: If you are really confident with your trapping techniques, then I'm challenging you to come here in the Philippines and face me in a full contact fight/sparring. It's an effective way for us prove how effective these trapping techniques are.
