Upgrade to Pro Tools 8: http://shop.avid.com/store/category.do;jsessionid=3CB818444ECF8BA82D792A8E372...

Pro Tools 8 now offers a better track management and compositing model. If we take a look at the foly S track under the view options you can see we now have something called "Playlists View". Under this view we can now see all the individual playlist stacked underneath the comped track. I can easily audition by click the S for Solo for each individual lane.

You can see that we also now have region ratings. I can right-click and basically rate a region from one to five individually per region. To make a composite, simply make a selection in each individual lane and hit the "Promote" button to copy that up to the comp track.

Making a composite in Pro Tools is now incredibly easy. Once I'm done with my comp I simply collapse this down to only show the final composite.

Now there's also a preference that we've included in Pro Tools 8 that allows Pro Tools when in Loop Record Mode to automatically create new playlists for each of those takes.
