The Global Consciousness Project is an international collaboration of scientists, engineers, and artists. We
maintain a global network that has been collecting data continuously since 1998 from sensitive instruments which
produce random sequences. Our purpose is to examine subtle correlations and structure in the data that seem to reflect the presence and activity of consciousness in the world. Looking at major global events including both tragedies and celebrations, we have learned that when millions of us share
thoughts and emotions the GCP network shows correlations. We interpret this as evidence for interconnections at a deep, unconscious level. An implication is that we are part of a growing global consciousness or oneness. From a CBS2 news item recorded by Brian Keefe in July 2005. It is not JUST that these jumps in the random event generators occur randomly out of chaos, it is that these jumps outside the range of probability are occuring in tandem with worldly events and this correlation can be recorded.

If you record suche jumps on 12 different occasions and it occurs every time in tandem with a worldly event, you can measure the probability of their co-occuring on all 12 occasions. It is 12/4096. Do that 4 a long time and try to deny it.

  • Skeptics never cease to amaze me. This guy and his team have been collecting data for the better part of 10 years, and the skeptic just shrugs it off. How does he know if consciousness affects the data or not. Hell, consciousness can barely be defined, so how can he say so surely that the data is just random fluctuations. Where is his data to back up his point of randomness? There are still many mysterious events, and I applaud this guy and his team for looking into things like this.

  • i wonder what would happen if everyone prayed with their hearts for love to prevail?

  • The matrix had a reference to the twin towers and 9/11.

  • @00WolfinSheepskin Exellent question! However, that question has been answered...

What's measured is the variance of randomly produced 1's and 0's which are sampled from a random electronic source, so it is quite difficult to conceive a lurking variable (e.g. an electromagnetic storm) that could influence both the electronic component and the sampling mechanism. In addition, the GCP uses PRNGs as a control group and a direct comparison of the experimental group to eliminate confounding....

  • @00WolfinSheepskin We have addressed these and many other possible sources of effects, in our years-long search for explanations. The experimental design and sophisticated analyses allow us to exclude alternatives such as you propose. What remains is the correlation with synchronized emotion and attention by large numbers of people.

  • what about on a media blackout? no news no news, or the microwave spikes from tv/cellular usage on such events? so many variables to believe it or not

  • @MolecularMoonlight -- Yes, I am in the "Something Unknown ..." video, which is very well done. Thanks for the comments.

  • There is a documentary that expands on this, entitled "Something Unknown Is Doing We Don't Know What". Just thought I would mention it. "The Living Matrix" and "What the Bleep Do We Know?" are also facinating. :0)

  • fake

  • @999ute999 Unfortunately, the GCP data result regarding the Death of Osama Bin Laden didn't became statistically significant, but it was almost in that path though.

  • would be interesting to see the latest graph regarding Osama Bin Ladens death
