The main guy in the clip playing the logs was actually a Fijian 'king'. In Fiji they have many kings. An old friend of mine was married to a Fijian singer & he told me all about it.

Yes indeed its Bula Maleya coz the movie made in La'ie Hawaii thats y they put the name thea instead of Maleya.....u can hia the lingo is fijian ol the way especially at the end

@amethyst48 They are Fijian from the south Pacific that is where Elvis get this song from its a fijian song (Bula malea) its a welcoming song.
I wanna know where the log players come from, try as I might I can find no other Hawaiian music with that style of playing.

sorry it has taken so long to reply but my comps been out. I have seen this type of drumming over in the islands around fiji years ago when I went over as a kid
