Rush's Alex Lifeson shows you how to play one of rock music's most recognized anthems. From the 1981 album release, "Moving Pictures", "Tom Sawyer" features odd-time signatures, extended chords and an amazing angular solo. Alex shows intermediate-to-advanced players how to combine these elements into a soaring rock classic. This is a sample of a 43 minute video available for download at iVideosongs.com.

  • One of the most COMPELLING parts of these lessons comes in the interview beforehand. Alex is mentioning that he's been in the same band his whole life, and when he says it he looks down to the ground in humility and in a polite soft spoken voice says "uhhh...RUSH." You really have to see it to get what I'm saying. Here's a guy, a LEGEND among his peers, who has as much if not more justification to be a cocky arrogant SOB like many other players and he is as humble as they come. We love him!

  • Alex is not a part of Rush....He Is Rush..Geddy is Rush, and Neil is Rush as well!!!

  • man ! great band !

  • @AttilaBlasphemer i know exactly what u mean, no-one could ever play La Villa Strangiato like Alex, it just wouldn't have the soul that it does during the solo. I saw them play it live a few months ago, i nearly cried it was that epic

  • @BlackLink27 Written in 1980 Released in 1981

  • @AttilaBlasphemer damn, I thought Alex is great and very skilled, but you guys created doubts... Now I call him underrated. I don't like it.
