Well, yes. ME1 is cheap and can be found at a lot of places, so I recommend buying it. Especially since there are a lot of subtle references to part 1 in part 2, and choices you make in 1 will have an effect on storyline in 2. . But if you don't, watch 'Genesis' on youtube for a 15 minute-comic about the story in ME1 (Genesis is standard included on PS3).

@GdogTheBeast69 They are two completly different games cod is a fps that takes no brains to play and has a load of 10 year olds shouting online, where as mass effect is an inteligent tps with a story that adresses alomst every life issue and wraps it up in a beautiful sci-fi universe.
