Why make a bunch of excuses when all he needs to do is go back home and play more scales and practice more before playing. Many 16 year olds can easily put him to shame.

It could also be the sound recording equipment, which sounded like a video camera mic. It just doesn't work for this kind of application.

While I agree with you that this is not of professional quality, I think there are some really beatiful moments in his playing. BTW -- If you're going to be pugnacious, this is a 'piece', or 'work'. "Songs" have words.

Out of his league....he is probably young anyways.
I love Ravel and Debussy though, and he has slaughtered this song so badly. I know this piece is difficult, but what do you expect out of Ravel. He needs more practice before he can change the real
While he can play most of the keys right, he probably needs to learn more French.
