Eric Lavender of Charleston Pirate Tours tells the story of Blackbeard's ties to Charleston, SC. Perhaps Blackbeard's most notorious escapade was his blockade of Charleston's harbor, but his ties to the area begin much earlier... at birth. Yes, recent research has uncovered evidence that Blackbeard was born in the Charleston area, speficialy Goose Creek. Nods to author Kevin Duffus, whose tireless investigation of old records and documents led to this discovery.

This video is a very abbreviated version of Eric's Blackbeard presentation. The full presentation runs about 50 minutes. Eric does weekly storytelling presentations at the Powder Magazine Museum in Charleston, SC in addition to daily, walking tours that focus on Charleston's pirate history.
