  • They aren't ashamed, it's just English is the universal language and sounds good in song

  • No...I wouldn't think so. But as you might now, english is an international language and they probably want to make it outside Sweden aswell =)

  • we ar not ashamed of our language, its just that everybody can speak english and in only lives 9 mil in sweden ;)

  • "We Fly" and "Money" and The New Single "Doctor Doctor".

  • whats one of her popular song?

  • wiwibulle - They aren't ashamed of their language. I lived in Europe for 6 years and it seemed like everyone knew English. Its almost like the unofficial universal language. Only sweden and finland speak swedish as an official language and when almost everyone in Europe knows english it makes sense to make it in english so their music will be spread all throughout Europe. Its just my understanding.

  • Yes with some languages spaning a population of an American city, English provides a better audience...although the singers themselves might not even know what they are really singing about. They might "know" english but wont always understand.

  • not ashamed of language.. its just to reach more people

  • Exactly!

Swedish people are not known for beeing ashamed of their language, it's just that our population is quite small (9 million) and our artists just want to reach a bigger audience. Look at Robyn, one of our biggest stars - she used to sing in swedish and she was famous here, but then she got a whole new start and style and promoted her english songs around Europe and now she's on the top of the British charts, for example.
