Protip: Leave the burner on when dropping the turkey. The spilled oil will then ignite, resulting in a dangerous and very impressive fire.

And dry. Pat it down with paper towel. Popping oil hurts.

Agreed. Sideslide23 has the worst advice ever. Put some oil into a pan, get it hot, then drop a splash of water in it. At the very least you will have learnt a lesson. At best you wont be able to have children and the gene pool will be better off.
