This is the tallest ball machine i have built to date. The 18 foot motorized lift is the tallest ball lift i have ever built. The track enters my room through a second story window, goes through my house, down the stairs and out the door to the bottom of the lift. The ball machine has over 80 feet of track and 3500 pieces.

Statistics:
Build time - 2.5 days
Height - 18 ft
Length - 80 ft
Number of supporting towers - 9
Number of bridges - 8
Number of paths - 1
Number of pieces - about 3500
Number of unique elements - 3
Max number of balls - 8
Number of chain lift hooks - 4
Number of lifts - 1

  • LAWL!!

    BTW...

You should have added a totally original creation like a trap door onto it or something.. or a ferris wheel lift thing :) or spiral stairs :)

  • This project was all about getting the ball from the second floor to the first floor and back again. I save the gimmicky (and usually less reliable) stuff for my larger ball machines. FYI I have just started building one of those. Should be done by early 2010

  • Social Life??

    Bleedin Hell!!!

That Must have taken ages to perfect!!!

  • As i often build things with friends, this IS my social life :D

  • How do u live in your house with all that knex in the way? Great ball tower tho. 5/5.

  • This ball tower stood in my house for all of 30 minutes, just long enough to film. The footage at the end is a time-lapse of the ball tower's deconstruction.

  • I would build the marble run through each room and the whole garden!

  • ...and i thought my 9 foot tall one was big...anyways good job on it

  • one word AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you are the master of all things knex

    AMAZING!!!

  • How much did it cost you???????

  • how r ur thumbs?

  • You should try to make the ball make a leap once, especially on a high-speed track like this. You could make a small ramp and make it land after like a 2-3 foot leap. That'd be awesome. (Ofcourse it is already :p)

You could make a long supporting platform to attach both parts of the track to so they won't move :p

  • Absolutely love it. If I were to make one like that, I would use hotwheels tracks rather than K'nex to save me some time. But I'd have to use something else for the lift. Hmm...

  • @tigerboy1227 that would be cool!
