Just for people who don't know. The 08 and higher models all were upgraded with 170hp and 177 pounds of torque.

Mine has 170bhp, 177lbstq, 16" drilled and slotted brake disc kit (on all 4), trunk brace, strut bars (front and back), racing coilover kit, 3" exhaust (cat back), no back seats, no panels anywhere in the back, no spare, oh and I get a healthy 34mpg everytime I'm on the hwy! It's not very fast, but where it lacks the speed it'll make up for in a turn.

@TheTruthHurtsYup I agree with nebraskahusker, but how are you only getting about 20 mpg? I have an 07 and get 28 mpg every tank. do you have an automatic transmission? that could be part of it, manuals get better mileage . the GTI also has more hp because it has a turbo. my boyfriend has an 03 GLI with a 1.8t and it still has more power than my little 2.5. they didn't upgrade the engine with turbos until the mk5
