I bought the gold edition And so far both campaigns are fun. I play the original more often (I don't know why) but the expansion is fun too. Also, FA is a stand-alone expansion, which means you don't need the original game to play it. But I would say get the gold edition or the xpansion.

its better, but you can't play with the original factions in multiplayer unless you have the older version.... i think

just answering a few questions....
Forged Alliance is a stand alone expansion, so you don't need the original to play it. So i would get it cause it has more content than SupCom, excluding the campaign.
The new faction is the Seraphim, which are the peace loving race the Aeon worship. Except these guys are the non-friendly version.
And each faction gets at least 1 new experimental, except Seriphim. Im guessing there will be lots more experimental in the expension to this.

so what exactly is this new playable faction. are they any good? u think its better to have supreme commander 1 and not waste money on expansion packs? or should i buy it?

There is suppose to be a third xpak for sup com eventually. I wonder what that will bring...

Right, In the missions you have 5 factions(you can only play as the ones in original SupCom)
You've got the 3 original who have all forged an alliance, then you have a Cybran computer, who's got it's own forces, then you have another group of Aeon, who thinks the seraphim are like gods,

I've only played supreme commander once but uhm... are'nt the seraphim supposed to be peacefull? and are'nt they supposed to be extinct?

The humans only destroy an outpost world, the rest of theirs worlds are on another galaxy or another dimension. That's why they are not peaceful anymore.

Indeed, this game is very resource consuming, my system: Sapphire x1950xt 256 mb, 1gb ddr ram (i have to upgrade this), Core 2 E6300 1.86 Ghz and I can barely play!.
