@yayKFC Firstly, people change their way of thinking when they grow up. Second, when were they against having a business on the side? They sold donuts in 1991.

Don't know if anyone even said that they sold out, cba to check. This has nothing to do with selling out, because their music in itself isn't changed, but they're using commercials to sell it. And Mac sells computers too, so it's win win, nothing to do with selling out.
But if they would make a song about Macs, that would be to sell out. Or if they changed their style to fit the current best selling style, only trying to get money, that would be to sell out.

Is it wrong to promote any tools you use then? What if Q-Bert wants to do a Technics commercial? Selling Nikes is one thing, but computers are tools.
Also, artists get more exposure through commercials. When Nick Drake's song "Pink Moon" was in that VW commercial his music got a huge boost in popularity.
