The cat balance is a method used to move along the tops of narrow obstacles such as rails, walls, or I-beams. By keeping the center of gravity low and having more points of contact with the obstacle, cat balancing can be safer, faster, and more stable than moving on two feet. Because every muscle in the body helps in balancing and moving along the obstacle, the cat balance is a great conditioning exercise. In addition to its practical uses and fitness benefits, cat balancing increases balance, proprioception, and sensitivity.

  • this dude has skills because he's making this shit look easy, and it's pretty freakin hard when you're just starting off.

badass music too. who is it?

  • @hocusfokusdotcom it's an instrumental track by kno of cunninlynguists. not sure which one.

  • will these exercises help get me fit because I'm not in the best physical shape...

  • of course they will help you get fit! just remember to start out small and easy. slowly build up the difficulty as you get stronger and better.

  • how slowly do u start because i can only do like 4 pullups max and idk about the rest.. do u start even at that low a level. how long does it take to progress.. when did u make all of these vids u put up lately? isnt there snow in CO right now?

  • Just start out working hard on your basic exercises; push ups, sit ups, squats, broad jumps, and pull ups. As you get better, start trying some more challenging exercises and workouts.

Right now it is 72 degrees and sunny in Denver, CO. We have the 2nd most days of sunshine out of any major city in the USA. :)

  • It's also very useful if you have to duck out of the way of a branch.

  • I love quadrupedal movements and balancing drills. It's hard to get something that so good for your overall fitness level, body awareness and ability to focus. Everyone can train it, everyone benefits from it, and there are millions of variations. Moreover you can do it at any time during your training, it's great warm-up and it's good when you are too exhausted for other things. It's just great.

  • how are you able to do that?

  • I tried this on a rail, and it was actually pretty easy for me to maintain my balance, but I wasn't going very fast, and I lost my balance after 4 to 5 meters

  • What song did you use in the background?

  • this is actually incredibley good for the forearms and wrist stabilizers.

  • before i knew this as a pk skill, i did it on tops of monkey bars at playgrounds..

I'm glad to know that its been put to good use :)

  • Situps suck, they isolate and they lead to muscle imbalances in the back. Also, the important muscle groups in the core are not worked during situps, and core stability is best trained in a full body motion.
