http://www.LoveDiabetes.com - A simple voicemail provides a simple answer to Allie's crusade chasing C-peptide. Eli Lilly claims to make human insulin, but they advise Allie to look for proprietary consumer companies to buy C-peptide. What kind of a suggestion is that? No más Lilly! C-peptide is a God-given piece of natural insulin production. There is no need for proprietary measures if you are truly making human insulin. When one door closes another one opens. The crusade continues. Please SUBSCRIBE to AlliesVoice.com and support Making the World Safer for People with Diabetes!

  • C-peptide would be the "Holy Grail" in avoiding compliations of diabetes but at $50,000 per year it's unpractical. The "business of diabetes" will not allow such resolve when dialysis costs $60,000 a year and a transplant is $200,000 plus another $20,000 a year for immunosuppressive drugs. The 'end game' is all about the Gilette Business Model. C-peptide would never allow the trickle-down economics of diabetes. It's a 'dead end' to complication profit streams.

  • Hi Allie. I've lived with IDDM 37 years and am proud of you for doing what you're doing here. If you need support or help, let me know.

    With blessings,

    Dr. Matthew

  • c-peptide is a part of pro-insulin,

c-peptide is cleaved off when it becomes insulin.

so yes it is identical to human insulin, but it is not identical to pro-insulin

  • All I know is I ended up in the hospital with an alergic reaction to the lilly insulin. I was fine with the Novalin N until my doctor changed to the Lilly pen.

  • if you want to know for sure, you're going to have to get more companied up and at least get some formal name attached to yourself, not a website or email group. people like Sigma usually want to see VAT codes, company registrations and other such stuff. I'd also get tuned up on the law regarding intellectual property and try to speak to someone in the technical or research areas. don't ask for their compounds or processing details, ask how they can prove it's identical to human insulin.

  • she's asking them for the c-peptide to prove their making human insulin. but, as someone who knows more than me about this seems to have already pointed out, that may not be proof. in terms of calling these people (like Eli or Sigma) as a member of the public and spontaneously asking for it, that's more than hopeful. these companies can't trade directly with the public due to risk associated with the trading; e.g. people could buy things from Sigma that they'd then use to make bombs

  • Part 2 Let's make this simple however... clinical trials show C-Peptide replacement in type 1 diabetics improves sensory nerve dysfunction and structural abnormalities

  • Part 1 of reply

I'm ok with the insulin, I would be dead without it... but what is missing is C-Peptide. Why is that important? OK lets get tech here a moment. C-peptide binds to a receptor at the cell surface and activates signal transduction pathways that result in stimulation of Na+,k+-ATPase and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), both of which are enzymes with reduced activitities in diabetes.

  • kwwp wacting theses cos i think your cute thanks for the info.

  • I don't understand what the problem is... if the product works, what does it matter whether the by-products are available for purchase or not? I guess I don't really understand what you're trying to accomplish with this whole thing...
