  • @sangfreud In 1999 I was rooting for Becker in that semi-final against Rafter, but he couldn't handle Rafter serve and volley.

  • The good old times !!! I miss Boris !!

  • fuck Becker was CUTE back then

  • Here everyone can see why the US press called Agassi "the little man from the dustbin", hehe...

  • @sidh05 I think so, too. He used to play rather quick matches.

  • @alin1975 Good point! I thought of him later too. Those were the good old days!

  • @sangfreud

Totally agree with you, and I know your list was not intended to be complete, but I just wanted to add Wilander to that list. The 80s really was one ridiculously competitive decade...

  • cont'd Without that wrist injury in '96, he may well have given Sampras a run for number 1 in the world. In which case he would easily be comparable. Becker had many top rivals, inc. Lendl, Edberg, McEnroe, Sampras, Agassi, all in their primes. IMO neither Federer or Sampras had the same competition. Agassi was Sampras' main rival, and Nadal was Federer's. (I'm only considering multi-slam winners - i.e. more than 2).

  • Actually, Agassi said his dad gave him performance enhancing drugs at least once early on. That's in addition to the meth he took in '97. After this match, Agassi won 8 in a row against Becker. Becker was still in his "prime" for some of those matches but in '93-'94 he dropped to around #11 in the world. He then made a huge comeback and was number three in the world in '95, behind Sampras and Agassi, and beat Agassi in the Wimbledon semi in '95 and won the Austrailian. He was injured after!

  • Agassi' s probably longest match in term of time, 4 hrs 25.
