A cpt 747-400 performing a engine start in a simulator. Besides a normal start he also demonstrates how a hot start works and how it destroys the engine!

  • A 'hot start' can be caused by a tail wind or an obstruction. It can also occur when the airflow stalls. Definitely not because of 'to much voltage'.

  • I think it's when to much voltage comes from the ground generator.

  • What causes a "hot start?" Too much fuel flow? How does one prevent them?
