Starting and running a Homelite Super Wiz 66 chainsaw with an 18" bar. 22lb powerhead pumping out 77cc's. Piston and cylinder are shot though, hence all the smoke.

  • I wish I could go into Homedepot right now and buy a Homelite just like that but I can't because all there stuff is made in china. What the hell happened to Homelite? they make shit now.

  • @workensmart They ended up selling out to John Deere in the late 80s. Then Deere sold them to a china based company. It's sad really.

  • these old homelites are so much better compared to teh new ones

  • By far. If only Homelite was what it use to be. Damn outsourcing.

  • is there a muffler on that ??

  • Nope. There is a piece of metal that pushes the exhaust off the side a bit. The Homelites of similar design where not equipped with a muffler. Some did have spark arrestors but thats about it.

  • i got one, to scared to use it lol paid three pounds for it

  • @vio2112 Do not lump Echo with Chi-Homies. Absolutely no comparison. Stihl will gratefully take your money.

Some folks don''t know that these old insect-foggers will run happily on mix ratio much higher than 16:1, with modern mix oil. No, you don't need to see visible smoke, that's lunacy.

  • my cousin just bought one of those at an auction for $5, we've almost got it running. and the name lies it is in no way light

  • Oh my Gosh if Al Gore saw this he would faint!! I can't imagine how many innocent wildlife were killed by that horrible pollution!!!!! You should be ashamed by the gigantic Carbon Footprint you made!!! I'll bet that at least 3 1/2 species of insects have gone extinct because of this travesty!!!

  • Wow, they don't make them like that anymore. All I see now are cheap Homelites at Home Depot selling for under $150. Complete junk with cheap plastic parts.. Anything with Homelite or Echo written on it is best avoided these days. Now I stick with Stihl.

  • The piston and cylander is fine, those old saws smoke like that because they run on 8 ounces of 30 weight motor oil which makes more smoke than 2 stroke oil, try leaning the carb out some it will rev higer and have more power ,not too much though because you will cause damage to the piston if its too lean on oil you still want some smoke thats a sign its getting good lubrication.

  • Do you know when it was made? I have an old blue Homelite from '64, according to the serial number. Yours looks older than mine. That's when Homelites were good saws. Thanks for the video.

  • looks heavy
