Thank you for the video. I just lost one of my shelties to heart failure this morning. He was on Vetmedin for a year and he did well until about 2 months ago. After that it was a battle of keeping the fluid at bay.

how do you know if it is advanced? he is coughing real bad and breathes odd at night. i know he could of been bettter but i couldnt afford his medication for a few months now. he's back on it, its been less than a week and he is still struggling. i cant afford his x rays or blood work yet. im so scared and sad. i hope the medicine is enough to start letting him breathe well again?

My little one is in advanced stages of congestive heart failure. 2 years after the diagnosis. Had to decide not to put him to sleep this morning. Just one more cycle of meds for goodbyes, etc. Good video.

My vet told me he THINKS my dog has cong heart fail(2yrs ago)-I think NOT! I did so much research when I got told this-I was so devistated. He had an x-ray and he wasn't sure of the results! I discovered a way to control his coughing and he is so much better now then say 1 year ago. He has all the symtoms of bronchittis. He is active and still acts like a puppy-He will be 12 on xmas night-I would die 4 him. Its just me and him inseperable all these years-I cant pic life without him.TY4 the info

@A10N3L3FT2D13 yes, it can be confused with other diseases especially if a pet has an innocent heart murmur and coughing

The best way to evaluate the degree of congestive heart failure is with an xray...hopefully being back on his medication will help.
