A new mobile-health technology system called Video Directly Observed Therapy (VDOT) -- developed by Richard Garfein, PhD, and researchers at the School of Medicine and Qualcomm Institute/Calit2 at UC San Diego -- provides a less-intrusive treatment program for patients with tuberculosis (TB) to help ensure medical adherence. Development of the VDOT program is supported by the Verizon Foundation.
