In the opening debate of a new series of Education Matters Debates with Teach First Sir Michael Wilshaw HMCI, Matthew Taylor, Peter Hyman, Ndidi Okezie and Gillian Hargreaves ask: what will it take to ensure that every child, regardless of socio-economic background, is taught by a "good teacher"?

Yet "fucking yourself over" does not mean your life is over. I strongly believe that anyone can become a neurosurgeon or engineer. It simply takes practice and passion to hone your craft. However people want qualitifications; they wont leave their life in the hands of someone with absolutely no background knowledge or a single clue of what they will do. You need a plan in life; education is your plan. Education polishes you up in so that when you are displayed on the shelf, customers will pick U

Think of knowledge as securing your future. The more you know, the more secure your future will be. The more you know, the more people will feel appeased in trusting your abilities in a service such as medical or engineering. The more you know, the more respect you influence you have on other people. Essentially, KNOWLEDGE = POWER. If you say to yourself "FUCK SCHOOL", then you just "fucked yourself over". Knowledge is your sword and shield to surviving within the society.

basically, u find this presentation to be boring. Respectable opinion but i state otherwise. This debate has reinforced my ideals and introduced new ones into my state of thought. The only way to improve the education system is through discussion, awareness, and trial & error, through education itself. Tell me of one idea or innovation that has been achieved without these core processes.

I believe that this way of presenting to an audience, let's call it the blablabla-approach, is the first problem in our education system. At least the adults sitting in the audience are socialized to believe it's rude to fall asleep.

A thousand years before people were taught the same way. Why is it that we have innovation everywhere but in education?

Seeing their century-old way to convey information to an audience, I believe to see that they understood nothing of what good teaching is about!

In a way, boring is one complain. Students do have to take responsibility too instead of blaming the lack of interest to learn because of boring. Taking responsibility is also an issue too.
