The building with the Golden Dome is NOT A MASJID - it is known as KUBBAT-AS-SAKHRA (trans. Dome of The Rock). The Dome of The Rock is not a mosque (masjid).
The masjid with the dark grey dome is Masjid Al-Qubaly / Masjid Al-Qudsi.
Masjid Al-Aqsa is actually the WHOLE of the area of the piazza as viewed from the air.... The whole area including the two domed buildings.

Masjid Al Aqsa is surely a place of religious/historic importance to all the believers on the globe. Even after migration to Medina Holy Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him offered prayers towards Al Aqsa Masjid for 17 months. It was changing of Qibla to Kaaba that raised awareness in the Jews that now their religion stand rejected & Islam takes over as the last & final religion. Since then they are planning & investing to crush Islam & Muslims. But havent been able to outwit Allah till now.

my dear Masjid Al Aqsa has Black Dome + all the uncovered area open in square shape.
The Masjid with the Golden Dome is Masjid-Al-Sakhra

salam!
How did you travel through the west bank
is there a specific route that would allow someone to get from the hordan border to jerusalem without having to cross any closed military areas or settler roads

We had a car with driver through our travel agent.. From the West bank border we went straight to East Jearuslam. We did not go through any military or settlers' enclosure. What is the situation today, I do not know. . For the latest situation you may contact any travel agent, which may be found through internet.

Dear Janji, Salam: We crossed King Hussain/Allenby Bridge on the Jordan river. Yes, we had to wait for three hours on each side. By the way, we had American passport. The border is not always open. We took the chance and thought even if we could not make, at least we will be able to see Amman, Dead Sea, and other holy places in Jordan. According to Hadith, we made pilgrimage of Masjid-e-Al-Aqsa, after Hajj. It was very educational for the whole family, too. Allahsubhanwatala made it possible.

The mousque with the gold dome is called "Mesgid al-Sakrah(the dome of the Rock)" , and the mousque with the gray dome is called "Al-masgid al-qubaly(the qubaly mousque)" .
Al-Aqsa is all the rectangular area that surrounds these two mousques as well as other places inside the rectangular area.

Abboooody, in few words you have described the two mosques and Al-Aqsa - the sacred sactuary, very well. Many times many people get confused. Thanks for the clarification.
