Actress/comedian Mary Kay Place sang a comical song on all in the Family that she wrote. Then she achieved stardom as dimiwitted country singer Loretta Haggers on Mary Hartman,Mary Hartman. She actually had a terrific voice and a spoofy album, tonite at the Capri Lounge was born with the cream of country supporting Mary Kay,including Dolly,Emmylou,Herb Perderson,many more. A hit single, Baby Boy followed. But on her second album, Mary Kay emerged as a serious alternative country rock artist,penning several terrific songs,and spawing a top ten hit in the remake of Something to Brag about, with Willie Nelson. Again supported by many of country's finest, here is a great tune by Mary Kay,"Paintin her Fingernails". Its quite timeless. If you like Mary Kay ,both ofher albums are available together on Raven Records. Unfortunately,a 3rd album was recorded but never released,as Mary Kay found touring (she opened for Willy Nelson) wasnt her thing. I would say Mary Kay is , as good as she is as an actress,even better as a singer. Hope you enjoy
