This is Helen Cheney Riding Cachina at Heritage Farm''s Cowboy Race on 10/17/09
After taking a 40 year break from riding Helen's back in the saddle with a vengance She's been dabbling in Team penning, Cowboy Mounted Shooting and now versatility/cowboy racing. All using Dr. Cooks bitless bridle. Helen is currently getting her own horse Violet ready to compete in the above mentioned sports. Helen and Violet participated with a fine showing at thier first event in Temple NH at Mountain Lane Farm.
Shown in this video is just the beginning of the race which also included a narrow bridge, many gates, feeding cattle, passing through a tunnel, a turn on the hind quarters. side passing over a raised log, roping a dummy steer head, as well as negotiating a series of raised steps, separating more cattle and loading one on a stock trailer, culminating in a canter across an open field with a flag, and carrying it to the finish line!
If you haven't tried this yet, you don't know what you are missing!
Take a look at my other videos to see me riding my 3 year old Ruger in with the cows the same day.
