@dashaman86 I was referring to per-capita contributions, which I suppose wouldn't necessarily be accurate unless I specified an income bracket. Allow me to amend my previous statement. The average illegal immigrant generates more tax revenue than he/she costs (there are a number of numeric estimates, but you'd be hard pressed to find a study to contradict this). The average lower or middle class citizen costs more than he/she generates. My apologies for the confusion. I got lazy.

Yea. Someone else pointed that out also. The main point I was trying to make was that illegal immigrants cause a deficit. I don't believe for a second that illegal immigrants are greater contributors to government revenue (taxes) than regular citizens. For starters there are more of us and secondly we (generally) make more money. How than do they contribute more?
-
@dashaman86 They do pay taxes. I file their returns. There are a number of benefits completely innaccessible to illegal immigrants. In terms of government revenue, illegal immigrants are greater contributors than citizens.

Well, the FIRST step should be to deny "birthright" citizenship. Deny social services to ALL who are born in the US to illegal parent(s). When the illegal aliens cannot get supplements for their low pay, they WILL stop coming. Then find and fine all employers of illegals for ALL social services their employees have received, all back taxes, all incarceration and deportation costs. As long as the illegal gets welfare, housing, etc, etc, etc via their anchor babies, they will continue to come.

couldn't have said it better myself

@dashaman86 i agree completely, which is why it pains me when reactionary politicians focus solely on beefing up border security or when stuff like the arizona law becomes the focal point on the discussion about what to do with illegal immigrants. it's all a smokescreen that ignores the root cause of the problem.

Yes. The companies are responsible. And yes, they will get away with what they can. But to trace it back one step further, government policy needs to change to punish companies that are taking advantage of the current situation. In my opinion, its foolish to think that the companies will change anything if government policy does not sway them to do so.
-
@dashaman86 well, i just wish peoples immediate ire to the situation would be directed at the companies first instead of the undocumented workers. if companies can get away with paying less for labor, they will.in my view, they are the prime enablers to this whole illegal immigration debacle.
they were protesting against grass getting played on. Poor grass.
