Carroll Shelby was on hand for the unveiling of the 2013 Shelby GT500 on the eve of the LA Auto Show, calling it "the greatest Mustang ever built."

@Airgunhead1234: Maybe, But their power to weight is still gonna be pretty close. GT500 = 650 HP and weighs 3800lbs. Z06 = 505HP and weighs 3200 lbs. But the one clear advantage the Z06 will still have is aerodynamics. Which is one big reason why I say mustangs and Corvettes are not comparable. They are just too different.

A lot of people are comparing this to the Zl1 camaro, it's pointless it clearly out matches it. do you all realize it has even more power than the ZR1 corvette?????

I think ford needs to take off the Shelby name. When do you ever hear of Shelby parts on a winning car at the cooper tire and grand am series never. SVT Holds there own most of the eng and research doesn't even come from shelby, Roush Industries devotes more Eng and research where do you think they got the set up for the new 5.0. But then if you take his name off you half to drop the price tag 12 grand

@ToxicReaper7: Yeah its gonna be a fair fight and its gonna be closer than most people think. For the simple fact that the ZL1 already has better tires than what Ford is planning to use. Unless somehow this new GT500 will have more rear downforce.
