Introduction of Candidates running for the 32nd Congressional District of California, serving Los Angeles and San Gabriel Valley. Betty Tom Chu (R), Christopher Agrella (L) ambitiously hopes to clench the hot seat at a special election on July 14 in the Thirty-Second Congressional District of California. Judy Chu (D), did not show up for the forum neither did she respond to questions or request for statements. Charlene Brown, Editor, Lookin Green Magazine and Allen Shay, President, Shay & Associates will moderate the forum. Review online at www.lookingreen.org/greendebate.

Two of three candidates for the only vacant seat in Congress, Betty Chu (R) and Chris Agrella (I), hoped to gain voters across party lines as they seek to leverage against their mutual rival, Judy Chu (D) who was a no-show and a none-response to questions on burning environmental, health, and economic issues posed at a green forum hosted by Lookin Green Magazine Tuesday, June 30.

Betty Chu slammed Sen. Edward Kennedys health reform bill currently before Congress, stating that the bill favored insurance companies rather than the injured. Agrella and Betty Chu alike summarized Kennedys bill as another broken plan similar to the current government run Medicare and Medicaid.

Agrella expressed frustration with public insurance programs not covering items like adult diapers for patients with uncontrollable bladder a condition he said his wife suffers from.

Under his plan for health care, Agrella said he would focus on doctor-patient decision making, one that he said would provide adequate care for the diagnosed illness.

On the connection between health and environmental conditions, Betty Chu fired at the Federal Government, linking poor water quality in the valley to contamination from ill-advised government policy. Agrella came out sharply against career-politicians who refuse to expedite action on diverting heavy vehicles off local roads.

Betty Chus and Agrellas responses to cutting greenhouse gas and carbon emissions were murky at best. Their statements fell short of any clear-cut solutions to clean up the environment or to improve air quality in the San Gabriel Valley.

At the time of this publishing, Judy Chu had not yet responded to a follow-up request for statements or her stance on health, the environment, and the green economy.

Lookin' Green, a non-profit community organization, takes no political position neither seeks to endorse any candidate.
