  • Both parties can govern, the question is WHY WON"T THEY ?

  • @knightschwartz

One can only speculate, but Mr. Frum comes across as either intentionally ignorant, or a tremendous fool.

  • @AkivaII are you joking?

  • How to reduce joblessnes in the USA: 1. deport illegal immigrants of working age 2. impose a immigration moratarium (why import low skill workers when you have huge unemployment?) until unemployment drops below 4 or 5% (and then still reform it to bring in far fewer and only very high skill ppl) 3. encourage self-deportations by ending the requirment of states to provide illegals free non-emergency healthcare or public education. But both the Dems and the GOP won't touch such real solutions.

  • Taxes, debt are not going to define this century for western nations I think demography, immigration will.

  • I think Pat Buchanan was right about immigration. The GOP is currently run by Bush/McCain types who like mass third world immigration and only talk about taxes. Demography will define this century as the issue in western nations.

  • David Frum is the son of CBC's news anchor Barbara Frum.

  • the pundits are more intelligent than the candidates. williamson's initial statement is pure gold; americans = ungovernable!

  • @AkivaII I'm actually finding him much more tolerable than a few years ago! He is not one to stick to the dogma like a dog to it's bone and so has valuable insights.

  • Hmm- it was argued that Republicans swing hard right during the election cycle and then to the center when elected. So this is why red states are trying to cut budgets to achieve prosperity? Swing hard right, stay on the hard right and destroy everything that's been achieved in the past 50 years. This is what they will deliver! Their government is a 2-headed monster - both serve the corporations and not the people.
