This is Part 2 in a series that I hope to be "everything you ever wanted to know about how to use MAC Pigments." Part 1 showed you the many ways to use Pigments as eye makeup. Part 2 is all about the lips. How to make your own custom lip colors, alter lip colors that you already have, making a matte finish lipstick with liquid foundation, custom blending lipglosses and applying Pigments dry for special effect finishes.

  • I hope your not too busy to answer this... I'm allergic to lipstick, lip gloss, and some lip balms. So I usually use cocoa butter to moisturize my lips. I was wondering if I could mix the pigment with cocoa butter and beeswax and create my own "lipstick" that way. Could you make a video about that?

  • @BlueLove144 Yes you could. I make my own lipstick base for mixing with pigments and I use Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax and Vitamin E oil. I can do a video on it but in the mean time, try playing around with it. You've got everything you need. More beeswax will make your mixture more matte/waxy, less will make it more glossy and less opaque :)

  • Your doing a great job, all this is very imformative even if I have no Mac.

  • @ladyusagi801 You could use all of these same techniques with just about any loose mineral-type eyeshadow as well :)

  • what kind of camera do you use?

  • @princesschelseamae For video I use a JVC Everio (model GZ-HD7U). I used to use a Flip video but stopped working. I have a warranty replacement coming from Flip BUT I like the way the JVC looks so much that I'll probably keep using it (the Flip files are WAY easier to edit though).

For still photography I use a Canon Rebel XSi with the stock lens plus Macro lenses (the filters, not an actual lens and usually +4+2) for close-up product shots.
