After climbing an electricity pylon in search of a bird's nest, William woke up in hospital to find that both his arms had been amputated. This touching report follows his determined recovery in rural SA.

"You must be strong", William announces to the camera. Since his accident, the young orphan has faced a huge challenge to adapt to the harsh realities of life in the poor farmlands of South Africa. Yet he is unfailingly optimistic about the future."My dream is a car. It's my plan", he grins. His carers at the burns unit worry about what might lie ahead for him, but they are sure of one thing:"I've never met anyone quite like William".

  • Its not easy, i come from that part of the world, its in the blood to be adventurous. Lordy do, I could go on for hours explaining this.

  • @macw2234 Teach the kids common sense and dont allow them to climb them ?

  • All the comments miss the point of this vid, powerlines are a real danger to the world. Birds nested in the tower and the young lad was encouraged to go and find the eggs of those birds. High voltage burned his hands off, so what can we do to prevent such accidents. I would say have a ban of overhead power cables as we have managed to attain in Ireland.
