The future of the automotive industry was on display at the 2011 LA Auto Show. Manufacturers from around the world showcased over 1,000 cars, trucks, sport utilities and crossovers. Vehicles on display showed off advanced technology, better fuel efficiency and improved performance.
Ford showed off the newly redesigned Escape and Flex models with EcoBoost to promote better fuel economy. Chevrolet turned heads with the debut of the 2013 Chevy Spark. The mini-car promises to deliver over 40 miles per gallon. The all-new 2012 FIAT 500 Abarth embodied Italian beauty and brings big performance in a small package. Audi's new lineup of technology-packed vehicles also made their North American debut.
Mercedes-Benz, not to be outdone, ushered in a new era of vehicles that are powerful enough for the track but safe enough for the street. Toyota brought along it's Prius plug-in hybrid. Like the Chevy Volt, it can be powered by electricity or gasoline. Honda reveiled the brand new Fit EV. The all-electric hatchback has a range of approximately 123 miles. BMW displayed its futuristic i3 electric concept vehicle which was built using renewable raw materials and is 100% electric.
