Jonathan Duarte, 16 year old virtuoso pianist from Costa Rica playing in the Teatro Nacional 2010

Jonathan Duarte is a sixteen year old Costa Rican pianist. Mostly a natural self-taught pianist he began formal music studies in 2007 at the Instituto Superior de Artes de Costa Rica. He then studied at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Costa Rica in 2008. He has performed in Carnegie Hall and at Stony Brook International Piano Festival in Steinway Hall.
He recently won second place in the Bradshaw and Buono International Piano Competition and the American Protégé International Piano and strings competition held in the United States. Costa Ricas musical talent is world class.
Jonathan Duarte plays Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) like a savant virtuoso returned from heaven. Keep your ears on him, hes going high places.

Jonathan Duarte is incredible and the theatre is gorgeous. The reason you have to watch ambiance footage is because the guards stop you from using cameras. I had to hide the camera because the record light and view screen lit everything up around me. I had two guards watching every twitch I made after the first note played. I just about got kicked out of the place. But sooo worth it. Hope you all enjoy it.
