Susquehanna River at Binghamton, NY. About 8AM, Sept 08, 2011. Positioned just below the junction of Conklin Road and Exchange Street. Looking North/Northeast towards the Exchange Street Bridge with flood waters just topping over the north end of the bridge (about 430 feet across the river.) Also shows flood walls on Conklin Road nearing breach with the river observed at 24.71 feet at 8AM (NOAA stats.) Ref Position: 42.093064,-75.908545. Oh yes... Sorry Weather Channel; Your reporter and anchors were incorrectly reporting they were 'Live' on the Susquehanna River, however, they were reporting from the Court St Bridge spanning the Chenango River, which runs into the Susquehanna (called the confluence of rivers at Binghamton.) See Ref Map URL: http://g.co/maps/xagpj for details on this confluence. Shot on Droid X2 cell phone at 1280x720 resolution. • people slept at my school vestal middle school

  • @soccerfighter13 Yes. So many people needed so much help. Your school helped out a lot of people, especially those that live in the Twin Orchards area of Vestal. It was really terrible there. Fortunately, physical items like cars and houses can be replaced while people can not. We are so glad that no one lost their life in Vestal!

  • You did a nice job of documenting this area in the early stages of this sad event. Thankyou

  • @nampagirl77 Thank you for the kind reply and taking notice of our efforts. Yes. These types of sad events are so devastating. I was personally wiped out completely in the June 2006 flood. I would not wish that on anybody, but sadly we see it happening here again. Which is disheartening because this area is so beautiful. But this community is strong willed and tough and wil recover, just as people do all around the world after such tragedies. Godspeed one and all...

  • Later this whole area was underwater...it got much much worse

  • @brendanlivesmore Yes it certainly did. I went back to this area at around 5PM and the water had risen substantially. A few days ago I posted another video that we shot at that time when we revisited the bridge site. I was amazed how fast the water got higher!
