LNG-Fueled Trucks Hit the Road

Clean Skies News' Lee Patrick Sullivan is at the Port of Long Beach in California, talking about new 18-wheeler trucks that can run on liquefied natural gas, instead of diesel. Although the vehicles are more expensive up front, they will significantly reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil, as well as air pollution; and some companies are willing to pay more for products delivered by LNG-powered trucks.

Further, to my previous comment, green house gases would be dramatically reduced and the air would be cleaner. Other benefits include less dependence on foreign oil and therefore national interests and safety are maintained and no need for aggresive foreign policy initiatives.

Here is one way to decrease industrialized nations, particularly Canada and U.S.A., from using so much fuel. First, as many people as possible should live in areas that are as close to where they work as they can find. In some places it may difficult for some people to find an adequate place to live that is close but for the majority it may not be that difficult. There would also be an economic spillover / stimulus in revitalizing decaying neighbourhoods.
