  • another great video to add to the favorites.

  • Thanks SpeakerFreak95

  • I'm guessing they couldnt get the batteries anymore so they put in a DC to AC converter.

  • Thanks gbowne1

The family is now using a battery eliminator. And listening to the Grand Ole Opry, as it was used for originally.

  • I'm not sure about RCA or GE making electronics for Sears. I do know that Warwick Electronics made Sears televisions in the 1960's and 1970's

  • Back then there were diverse manufactures agreements. One RCA radio I have was made by Westinghouse. It is just like today, what ever makes money. Thanks.

  • Thanks for the information about Silvertone. This really clears up a lot of myths about who made Silvertone, and what I thought all along.

  • At the bottom of the plate on the back of the chassis it says R5927 COL. Made in USA. Warwick Manufacturing made many Silvertone sets but so did Stewart Warner and another company called Colonial. I suspect that the COL. stands for Colonial. As for the the reference to RCA, RCA was originally a patent pool jointly owned by G.E and Westinghouse who granted granted licenses to other manufacturers to use RCA circuits like the TRF, regenerative, and Superheterodyne.

  • I think that why after all these year I still like old radios, there's always something to learn about. This radio was a real basket case. Also had never seen a radio before that did not have a volume control, but it has a tone control. ???? It was a good challenge.
