http://reddingteaparty.com - Redding School District special meeting of the governing board happened with no apparent notice at 7:30 IN THE MORNING.
The "public forum" item on the agenda would have been about the $15,000 retirement incentive being offered to any member of the bargaining unit who agrees to retire by Feb 22, 2011.
Interestingly enough this is also the school board who had the president's wife arrested for embezzlement just over a year ago. Is she retiring? Are those who were involved being paid to retire?
This "incentive" has never existed before as far as we know and the magical 7:30AM meeting time was suspicious at best. Why couldn't they add 2 minutes to the next meeting? Was this really something that needed a "special meeting"?
Note: no comment cards were handed out and no agendas were made available to people in the audience when they came in.

  • You could assume that the Tea Party members flubbed the deal, but they had very little notice and you could also assume that maybe they were thinking that the meeting chair person was talking to only the board members. Google the Brown Act

  • Seems like there was no opportunity given for anyone to speak? Nice convenient way to hold a meeting!!??

  • How did the tea party know about the meeting? Plus from what I saw, they gave the public an opportunity, but no one took it. Whats all the fuss about?

  • How did the tea party know about the meeting?

  • Were can one get a copy of the minutes? And that Schoolboards bylaws? I'm betting that there are several violations of both parlimantray procedures and their own bylaws.

  • I thought the Brown Act required the agenda of public meetings be posted 48 hours before any open meeting?
