i think lies are a grey area, it depends a lot on the situation.

like for example.......erm...your stalker ex is trying to get in touch with you again, but he doesn't know if you still live in this city, so he asks one of your friends whom he saw at a tesco one night if you still live here and she says "nope she went to oxford to go to university"

that was a bit specific but yeah my point that i think it's ok when it's to protect someone, or when everyone benefits from it.
