In this video I show you the Carbonite Online Backup service. It runs on both Mac & Windows, this particular videos shows the service on Windows 7. Backing up your files is very important and storing them offsite had many benefits. Check out the video to see how Carbonite performs and to hear my opinion.

  • Soon as the backup is done, wouldnt there have to be another backup due to the weeks it takes to backup the first time ?

I think the idea is great but somehow before its time.

    Looks a nice interface though.

  • @avcrk It would take a long time for the initial backup, but then it would catch up.

  • I have thought about signing up for an online backup service but have had reservations about how long it will take to backup around 160GB of data since my broadband speed is only 2Mb. Not sure what the upload speed is, but i think it will be alot slower than 2Mb.

Always good to have piece of mind knowing you have a backup in the cloud aswell as having an external HD for disaster recovery.

  • @RaigyCar85 Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • In the video you're doing a 130 GB backup, how long did it take ?

Assuming the worse case scenario, where your hard disk fails and your local backups also fail, around how long would it take to recover all the data ?

The service sounds great, if your total data recovery time is a couple of hours.

  • @nilocski Well, it would be more than a few days to recover 130GB. Initial backups can take a couple of weeks to complete depending on the priority bandwidth you give them.
