This is my entry for challenge 2 of the BOIT Competition - „Overused Songs". The song was given to me by the judges.
This is what the judges said:
Congrats for being a judge's favorite for this round. It can easily be said that your entry was loved by all the judges. We really liked the fact that you really took the meaning of giving us something different to look at. Everything, from the style of the video to the fandom used, was refreshingly different than the typical "west coast rocks" video. The editing throughout was well done, especially the fast clip changes at parts like 0:15 and 0:27. Your font use and voiceovers were creatively done in the video. Overall, you gave us something that was very entertaining to watch. Great job and good luck in the next round!

Okay, this challenge almost killed me. I wanted to smash my keyboard so spectacular like „Wesley" did in this movie and throw my pc out of the window. I'm not used to vidding electronic songs because it's not really my kind of music so, yeah, it was pretty hard. Got used to the music after a while and after hearing this song about 1,564,843,548,867,358 times BANG! I actually started to like it! I'm shocked! LOL Anyway... I started three videos and hated them all and I'm still not 100% satisfied how this video turned out. I'm not sure if it's good enough to get me into the next round but I have to say that vidding this particular movie was sooo much fun. It's my favourite action movie ever; I simply love the dark humour of the whole film and don't get me started about James McAvoy... :P
As for the editing: I avoided flashes and dissolves and tried to use internal movements instead to match the beats. Since it's my first video that goes into that genre I'm not sure if it's 100% perfect but I gave my best. I didn't use lots of fancy effects and overlays, but I did that on purpose. The judges said that they want something "different" and I watched a couple of videos with that song and realized that everyone puts lots of effects and overlays and fancy stuff into the videos. There are hardly any "basic" dubstep videos that just trust on the movement of the clips so I avoided unnecessary effects and hope this counts as "unique and original". LOL
Footage: WANTED
Music: West Coast Rocks - Glitch Mob Remix
Programs used: Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate Collection, Adobe After Effects CS5, Adobe Photoshop CS5
This is perfect.

Damn, you're editing is A-Mazing! And I love that you didn't go overboard (as so many do) with the special effects. And of course James is drool-worthy, so that doesn't hurt.
