oh.. and I have one of the winglets. it was about 500 ft from the crash site

im friends with the hotel owner's son.... I saw the wreck after it happened before the FAA came and took all the pieces. I remember seeing the centrifugal supercharger charred by the hotel... saw the avionics equipment.. melted, as the crash report says. They took the engine before I saw it however. I looked under the tarp, saw the cockpit with melted toolset, what looked like a parachute, and unburned pair of fruit of the loom underwear.. my friends mom said she heard him screaming.. sad =[

It was Chevrolet Corvette powered. There are a couple of videos on Youtube of this guy testing the new engine in his plane. RIP dude...

so sorry to hear about this pilot after looking at the aircraft i say it looked pretty nice home built piece .

Sad to hear they died. A Glassair is pretty much an engine with winds. You loose the engine, you might as well be mounted on a brick. Those winglets did look sexy as hell though.

Damn, not "enough altitude"

RIP - 2 heaven.
What happened?
More details pls?
