Why is everyone so flipping offended by this thing? I mean who the hell cares wether it's yourself checking in to Pizza Hut on facebook, or wether Carrier IQ does it for you and sends it to someone who most likely will not read it? I don't get what the problem is here. Right me if I'm wrong please.
@ 1:53 "While it does do things such as listen for keystrokes. Its not actually writing those down anywhere. Its doing it for internal purposes, and not sending that kind of information to back to the carrier."
On that note who else can get their hands on this information if it doesn't get to the "carrier." I bet this company is a front for a carrier. They just buy this information via another front to regurgitate it to the "carrier." After all how does Carrier IQ make money?
Dan Rosenberg? OK, the application listens for keystrokes, and the purpose of the application is to provide diagnostics in order to provide a better service, how is the program differentiating the difference between useful and non-useful data to sent to the software? CarrierIQ admits it's application gathers data, it doesn't say what data, ... ... hmmmm, all we need is transparency .. well i don't because I don't use a smart phone
