  • As for the classical format 5+0 I still think it is quite good, nobody can force you to get so short on time, just always keep a little 30 seconds buffer to be able to finish completely won positions (this of course requires faster decision-making beforehand).

  • If the commentators are really Grandmasters, they should really understand that decision-making in key middle game positions is absolutely crucial. Instead, they just keep repeating that Anand's one minute time advantage is ticking away, very informative indeed...

  • @danielkaspa OK, good to hear this. An obvious improvement that needed to be made imo

  • @myrtlebox I understand that. What I'm saying it that makes this format a complete joke and it needs to be changed. Hopefully that's already been done in the years since this match took place.

  • @jansuch Not in this Blitz format. No time added on moves forces ergonomics during crunch time. If you play this format, you better learn that simple fact.

  • @jansuch nowadays the time control for wolrd class blitz events is 3+2, meaning that for each move the player gets an extra 2 seconds on the clock. The new system is far better, but Dreev just played the better he could within the rules. No shame on the players, just the time controls were far from perfect in the time.

  • Anand deserves to lose for promoting that pawn. What a poor decision. It takes too long and he didn't need it to win.Just make legal moves and hit the clock. Oh well...

  • @jansuch yes but unfortunatly in those game (blitz) you just have to move the piece that is closer to the clock and win on time. lol

  • Am I the only one who thought the way this game finished was a total shame? The outcome should be decided by who has the sharpest chess mind, not who has the most dexterous hands and arms.
