many young people are subject to ageism through the supression of their oppinions and the media stereotyping them as violent, incoherent and disrespectful...

Ageism is wrong in all it's forms. Old people get discriminated, young people get discriminated, everyone gets discriminated, it cannot be put down to one side all of the time. Everything, or nearly everything within this world has a good and dark side to it, including every generation that has, or will exist. Do not judge people for how long they have existed, but for who they are. You are born, you are young and you are old, this is life.

I get discriminated against all the time because people think I'm 18 when in fact I'm 36. When I walk down the street with a lover of 38 they think she's a youth molester. Ageism sucks.

@Joanthecutey technically lowering it doesn't make it not ageist, it only makes it ageist towards less people, there should not be an age restriction on anything, because of two reasons:

1. defining age by a number of years is inaccurate, maturity and capability are acquired through time, but at different rates, a 15 yro can be more mature physically and mentally than a 21 yro but the 21 yro is legal to drink alcohol

2. time is constant, not chronological as in i am 20, i was 20 and i will be 20

I am 22 years old find working stressful enough, also I embrace aging it is a good part of life, it isn't bad, it is good because why would you want to live forever, you people who do enjoy working for the rest of your days paying bills etc and even if you do retire young you will get bored my dad retired young owns the fastest most exotic toys like fast cars and he gets depressed and decided to work again and hates that too.
