Interesting video. I subscribed.

Can you post more info on your electrostatic Tesla turbine thingy?
-
Wow! I've seen your work, impressive!
-
Blair must have been impressed. :D
Have you calculated your losses in the system?
Crazy triboelectric 'skin' effect eh?
Your turbine is an interesting piece of hardware. Can you tell the viewers why it will not work in a vacuum ;)
-
Nice work! Is this little 'fan' thing an electrostatic motor?
I see you putting your hand near one of the neutralizer combs to start your machine. What are you using to start it?

beautiful bonetti machine !!
good work !!

Thanks to a certain giant invisible rabbit, I realize that this electrostatic generator/motor setup, as it stands most likely would not operate in a vacuum, because the charge pickups are corona combs and transfer charge by spraying ionized air gases. However, by replacing the corona combs with contact brushes made of carbon fiber rovings, I believe the machines would work in vacuum. My Dirod already has CF brushes and would likely work in vacuum.

The turbine is thought to be a corona motor, dependent upon ions in the air to function. I'm not completely sure this is the case for this configuration. Soon I will have freed up a vacuum chamber of sufficient size to determine the answer.
I have not calculated the overall losses.
Blair jumped about a foot when the thing sparked over. At least he wasn't holding a cup of hot coffee, like Michael was when I showed it to him.

Thanks, all. The "fan" or turbine is indeed an electrostatic motor, but with a few more strategically placed holes it will also be a Tesla turbine pump.
The Bonetti machine is an electrostatic non-contact induction machine, so strictly speaking the only triboelectric effect occurs when I actually touch the disk, to impart a slight charge from my body. In theory, all it takes is a single electron's worth of excess charge to begin the induction process.

EDIT to add I also think a small source of beta particles positioned in the right place would make it self-starting.

Great video, but I can clearly hear the noise of the hidden WhipMag under the workbench.
I call hoax!!

Evidently the lights are just too bright. I'll try to dim them down for the next video. Meanwhile, I'll be looking forward to the Fourier deconvolvolution of the sonic spectrum to reveal the bearing harmonic resonances. Is it lunchtime yet?
