Polishing an optical flat, The sixth side of a double sided three flat project Part Two

In this installment, I continue to polish the final surface of a three double sided flat project. I have come to realize that the new pitch lap I poured is too soft for my purposes on a hot day in New York. I complete the polishing for the evening and discuss the results.

I used to do it backwards the tool on the table and me moving the mirrow ,I try your way once and I got a horrible spherical abberation , Due that in my country we have almost the same temperature 20 & 30c I use 20mm thick glass (no pyrex)

I used to follow the Jean Texerau way..Your way is much more practical and easier

Thank you for your comment. Remember, I am making a flat. I alternate flat and pitch lap on top to attempt to keep the tool flat.

As with a mirror, various strokes and positions can be used in order to achieve the desired curve once figuring has begun.

I would like to know more aboput your telescope making projects.

Very interesting,bit too technical for me to follow until I learn more about names of parts etc. of the telescope your making.I applaud your skill and dedication to it. I've been looking at your channel but I'm having difficulty following the different sections.ie.what was the next process after video 8 on the optical 12 1/2" pitch lap?It maybe I'm not getting on with the new style channel YT has done.Have you got a video of finished telescopes you've made on there?Keep up the good work.DWM.UK
