Mongolian Radio on shortwave 4830 kHz welcoming the new year 2012 with the National Anthem. Received in Germany during a DXpedition to the fields on 31 December 2011 at 1600 UTC (midnight Mongolian time).

Receiver: AOR AR7030+ with 40 meter longwire antenna

Distance between the 12 kW transmitter at Altay and my QTH: 5922 km

Usually this station is signing off at 1500 UTC with an instrumental version of the anthem, but on New Year's Eve they had an extended programme continuing past 1600 UTC and they played the choral version of the anthem which is usually aired when they sign on at 2200 UTC.

  • @senderjaeger GGGGreat ! I was eager to get exotic Mauritanian Anthem in Japan, which was composed by a French musician and which I heard several times when I was in Moscow. "Lupang Hinirang (the Philippines)" and "Indonesia Raya" are my favorites except our own.

  • @pesnyaozemle Yes, I have both the Armenian and Mauritanian anthems, both recorded in 2001. One of my favourites is also the former anthem of Kazakhstan, recorded in 1994 on (then) Radio Alma Ata.

  • @senderjaeger I'm looking forward that ! I love Armenian Anthem. Of course, the present one is very good and the former one composed by Aram Khachaturian is great not to speak of its lyrics, I think. And do you have the anthem of Mauritanie ?

  • @MARKGM20877 I've never heard an anthem on Vatican Radio, but their anthem is available at YT and it's indeed nice as well. I also like the anthems of several African countries and former USSR republics. During the 1990s I recorded many anthems off shortwave, maybe I'll launch a second channel for those vintage recordings some time. Cheers Matthias

  • @senderjaeger I agree its a nice anthem...my favourite would have to be Vatican Radio good Dxing cheers Mark

  • @MARKGM20877 Thanks Mark... Indeed the effort of driving to the fields paid off once again (although weather wise it was quite unpleasant that day). Mongolia is certainly one of my favourite DX stations and their anthem is one of the most beautiful I know. Cheers Matthias

  • Nice Catch Matthias audio is clearer on this frequency...you definitely get the results on your mini DXpeditions keep the videos coming cheers Mark
