Sugar was brought to our euthanasia clinic, blind and frightened. After evaluation by our veterinarian and staff for quality of life, she was humanely euthanized by our vet. She was sedated and then given the euthanasia solution. As you can see she fell asleep very peacefully.

We produced this video in hopes of educating people that euthanizing is truly a peaceful ending, and that when the time comes, please make the right choice and have your beloved horse friend euthanized by a licensed vet instead of letting them suffer a lingering death, or even worse, sending them on to slaughter or dumping them at a livestock auction.

This video is for educational purposes only.

  • i wanted to become a equine vet,

But the thought of having to do this is breaks my heart

  • @jessiedroidsmith If this video helps someone make a decision to end the life of an animal that is suffering, it will have done its job. I may not like it, but pictures like this are always better than thousands of words.

  • What a peaceful and loving way to end an animal's suffering. Too many people just can't let go and allow their animals (be it dogs, cats, horses or whatever) to continue to suffer. It's not fair for the animal.

  • :( im sorry sugar is now forever dead but as my mom said,

since sugar went though enough including going completly blind, its better for her to go though this and die peacefully.

same with my grandpa. its better for him to die peacefully than suffer death in a painful way.

    R.I.P sugar. <:)

    i hope this helps.

  • @jessiedroidsmith That's very true; you can research these methods as an alternative to viewing videos. But to offer a different perspective, my family has two very old horses and the time is approaching when we will need to cross this bridge with our beloved boys. It's been heavy on our hearts. I watched this video and it brought tears to my eyes, but they were tears of relief at seeing how peaceful it was. Reading articles didn't put my heart at peace like this video did. :)

  • good job,clean job!!!respect!!!

  • @XXjba1013XX in england slaughter houses arent that bad they just shoot the horse with no other horses around

  • I've only witnessed on euthanasia in my life and that was after he broke his leg in 4 places. :( I'm glad Sugar had a good life, you made the right choice.

    RIP Sugar and Scotch

  • Thankfully I've only witnessed 3 euthanasias in my life, and 1 did not go well. The vet did not administer enough sedation and the entire process took about 10 minutes....long story but sad. This is the way it should be done...sorry for your loss.

  • Im crying like a baby right now. RIP Sugar. You were much loved. Thankyou for putting this video up to show euthanasia really is peaceful
